One night in July or August of 2011, two friends went out with some other people who are really not important in the context of this story, and proceeded to not get drunk.  The night was not a loss, however, because one of them did have the bright idea of starting a blog to review local Victoria theatre. The other one, who had horrible taste in beer, agreed.  So after recruiting some others, they all met on a sunny day, a few weeks before the start of the 2011 Victoria Fringe Festival.  Together they worked through the birth pains of what would eventually become The Marble, the very website you are visiting this very moment. Why is it called The Marble? That is none of your damn business!

We are:

Matt

A Third Year Directing student at the University of Victoria, Matt has spent the last 10 years involved in some form of theatre or another. He enjoys meditation, witty banter and long walks on the beach.

Liz

Liz is the only member of the team missing a penis.  She does not feel at a loss for this. Besides writing for this blog, she engages in a number of other activities which include two recent forays into acting.  Her zodiac sign is Cancer.

KC

KC is a veteran to Victoria’s performing arts scene. After having spent many years on the live music scene (such as it is), he started acting and becoming involved in theatre. In his spare time, KC is a graduate student at UVic in the English department. Critical by nature and by trade, KC loves to dig into a performance and find its diamonds and its flaws.

Max

Max is a resident of Victoria, a former projectionist, and an avid fan of pinball.

Charming Stranger

Some say that he was born to a wealthy oil magnate, then disowned at the age of three. Cast out onto the street, he wandered the world, loved and lost, saved entire villages from destruction, and eventually settled down, married, and graduated from Harvard (at age eight).

Others say much less interesting things.
